Sulfur (also spelled "sulphur") is a yellow free mineral that usually grows near volcanoes. It is the tenth most common element by mass in the universe and the fifth most common on Earth. Sulfur forms in tabular or pyramidal crystals, powdery coatings, encrustations, and massive or granular aggregates. This mineral is a poor heat conductor, which means it is often warm to the touch. 

Additionally, sulfur is often responsible for vivid yellow coloring in other minerals, such as bumblebee jasper and realgar.

Metaphysical Properties:

Sulfur is associated with transformation, purification, power, and energy. It is connected primarily to the sacral and solar plexus chakras.
