This "sphalerite," as it is very commonly referred to in the crystal trade, is technically a type of chalcedony with unique druzy patterns. Chalcedony forms when mineral-rich fluid flows through underground rock, depositing silica and other minerals along the way. These minerals build up over time to form crystals.
