Script jasper (also known as Miriam jasper or calligraphy jasper) is a fossiliferous limestone known for its swirling, brushstroke-like patterns and its earth tones of brown, reddish-brown, orange, and yellow. It is a highly unique mineral composed of fossilized shells, bones, and vegetation from ancient swamps. The primary fossil included in calligraphy jasper is Orthoceras, which were ancient cephalopods related to the nautilus.
