Rock/Mineral Info:
Peacock ore is the common name of the copper ore called bornite. It is famous for its colorful iridescent appearance, which resembles the plumage of a peacock and thus informs the stone’s nickname. Its hues range from deep blues and purples to shades of green and gold. These colors are caused by the oxidation of its surface.
Peacock ore forms through the hydrothermal alteration of copper-iron sulfide minerals like chalcopyrite. During this process, copper and iron-rich fluids are introduced into preexisting rocks to form peacock ore. Typically, peacock ore is associated with other minerals and ores, and is often mined for its copper content.
Metaphysical Properties:
Peacock ore is associated with strong healing powers and positive forces. It is known to align all chakras.
