Lepidolite is the most common lithium-bearing mineral found on Earth.  It is usually pale lilac, though it can also be violet, gray, colorless, or pale yellow. Its structure is micaceous, accounting for the lovely glittering effect it often displays. 

The name "lepidolite" comes from the Greek "lepidos," meaning "scale." This is believed to be in reference to the stone's micaceous structure.
