Jupiter jasper is an aggregate of chalcedony that is famous for its incredible banding patterns that are deeply reminiscent of the planet Jupiter. It is a metamorphic rock that forms when silica-rich sediments and volcanic ash consolidate together. Its distinct banding patterns are created when the original material fractures and is filled in with new minerals.
