Chamki ruby is another name for ruby in a blue/green kyanite matrix. Ruby is a type of corundum, a mineral group to which sapphire also belongs. It is famous for its array of red shades, including pinkish-red, magenta, orange-red, and blood red. Ruby's redness comes from trace inclusions of chromium within the crystal structure. The stone often fluoresces beautifully under ultraviolet light.
