Blue apatite is a calcium phosphate known for its oceanic blue or blue-green coloration. Because apatite is biocompatible, it is known to grow in teeth and bones, and has even been found growing on fish scales. The mineral's biocompatibility makes it extremely useful in various biomedical applications (e.g., bone grafts). It is also heavily used in fertilizer due to its high phosphate content.
