Amethyst is a type of quartz famous for its gorgeous purple color, which is caused by iron and/or manganese impurities in the crystal lattice. It forms in hydrothermal veins, when mineral-rich fluid flows through rock in the Earth's crust, depositing silica and other minerals along the way. These minerals bond and accumulate to form amethyst.

Metaphysical Properties:

Amethyst is known to be a catch-all healing and protection stone. It is associated primarily with the crown chakra.
