It is known for its gorgeous red coloration that can manifest in various shades, including red, orange, yellow, brown, and sometimes pink or peach. Carnelian gets its distinct colors from inclusions of iron in its crystal lattice. It also frequently displays banding, which occurs when layers of agate build on top of each other in geodes.
