African bloodstone is a metamorphic rock known for its semi-translucent grey chalcedony and its brushstroke-like blotches of red jasper. It forms via the process of metamorphism, wherein underground rocks undergo immense pressure and extremely high temperatures, and are thus transformed into something completely new.
