Rock/Mineral Info:

Obsidian is an igneous rock that forms when lava cools very rapidly. Its conchoidal fracture makes it very easy to carve into various shapes and tools (e.g., spearheads or arrowheads) via a process called knapping. Occasionally, obsidian can contain trace amounts of magnetite, which causes a lovely silver, gold, or rainbow sheen when the stone is viewed from specific angles.
